Haemostasis
Haemostasis is the process by which thebody stops blood loss whenever a vesselis severed or ruptured. This processinvolves the formation of a loose plateletplug at the site of injury followed by blood coagulation to form a stable fibrinous clot (thrombus). This course provides an overview of haemostasis, the role of platelets in blood coagulation, and the coagulation system. It also explains the sequence of events in haemostasis, the central role of thrombin in blood coagulation, the steps in fibrinolysis, and the commonly used coagulation assays. The tutorial is available as a global version accessed via the table below.(Unregistered users have limited access to the global course content - to access the full version of the course please register.)
