Sepsis

Sepis is an exaggerated systemic
inflammatory response to infection that leads to widespread tissue destruction in areas remote from the original site of injury.  It is a source of considerable morbidity and mortality in hospitalised patients.

This course provides a background to the pathophysiology of sepsis, discusses the roles of different pathogens that can cause infection, and the various types of hosts that are susceptible.  It then covers the epidemiology, particularly as it relates to organ failure, symptoms, diagnostic criteria, treatment options and supportive therapies.

The tutorial is available as a global demo version accessed via the table below.  (Unregistered users have limited access to the global course content -  to access the full version of the course please register.)
